From
the age of 11, I've had a passion for filming - my overall ambition
has always been to become a television cameraman. At the age of
12 I got my first consumer 'camcorder', with a second one bought
a few years later complete with a live vision mixing desk. These
were used to film anything and everything I could, including pantomimes!
Upon
leaving Trinity
High School in Manchester with 10 GCSE results including 3A*,
3A, 3B and a C, I began to pursue my ambition by attending Stockport
College, on an Advanced GNVQ: Media, Communication & Production
Course.
I
soon realised that although media qualifications were certainly
useful, companies wanted hands-on experience and portfolios, so
I took the decision to end my media GNVQ, and was quickly approached
by local production company. My time at the studios was really a
learning period in the art of good camerawork and editing, and during
my time there I was responsible for filming or editing many football
matches, music videos and general miscellaneous filming pieces.
Soon
after, fellow employee Des
Hinks left to start up his own company, with myself joining
at the same time to form DHSports. From there forward, it is with
DHSports
that we have built up one of the most respected freelance reputations
in the North-West.
However,
it's not all about work you know! Maybe you'd like to know a little
about the person behind the camera?! Here is some further information
for everyone!
Music
I like my music - it gets me through the sometimes long and early
call times to jobs which I'm booked for! These journeys have often
provided inspiration to producers as to what music to use in their
programmes! I'm into most types of music, however usually listen
to indie or rock stuff on my own mp3 compilation cd's in the car
stereo.
Movies
When I'm at home, to entertain me I like movies - I admire their
artistic camerawork, as well as enjoy the feature.
Social
Coming from Manchester presents a fantastic opportunity to explore
the great nightlife! If I get the chance, I love going for a drink
in one of Manchester's bars - maybe bumping into soapstars or TV
presenters from nearby ITV Granada and BBC Manchester studios. 5th
Ave or 42's for the student Indie type musical nights out, maybe
the 'Press Club' bar for a little work socialising or a trip around
Deasgate Locks for a more upmarket evening out.
Along
with these pastimes, I might spend a bit of time with the never
ending task of doing up my current residential property, taking
photos, or visiting new places!
